Our client (Anne) was after a memorable and immersive 50th birthday party themed around the four cities she’d lived in: London, Moscow, New York and Hong Kong.
Guests first entered into an old fashioned London Gentleman’s Club for a stiff drink before moving on to the next big reveal: Hong Kong, awash with colourful lanterns and blinking neon signs. Friends ordered dim sum from street food stalls and had their fortune told by Pinky Poon-Li. Next up was Moscow’s state circus Big Top where they met by the World’s Strongest Man and a ballerina on the run from Moscow’s notoriously ruthless national ballet. Lastly, guests made their way into a Manhattan speakeasy run by shady gangster “Jonny Two-Fists Fitzgerald” and his two sparkly-dressed harlots. Here a three piece band got everyone dancing.
Each city had its own menu, from Lapsang souchong Iced tea and ‘Steamed squid dumplings with ponzu Peking duck pancakes’ to a classic New York Cheesecake and a few Manhattans for good measure.
